The world’s cheapest tablet,  is priced at just Rs. 29999 ($61)and is known as Aakash. The tablet runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) and has a resistive touchscreen 880x480 resolution with a weight of 350 grams. The tablet also includes 265 MB RAM, two USB ports and a 32 GB expandable memory slot.

Aakash the tablet, comes with a one year replacement warranty and can play formats like DOC, DOCX, PDF and PPTX. There is a also a 3. 5 mm headphone jack.

The low cost computer will release commercially in the month of November. The commercial version does not have subsidy and duty waiver and includes features like a SIM to connect to the Internet and an inbuilt cellular modem

The government has bought the tablet for Rs 2250 from DataWind and will be accessible to students across the country, mainly post-secondary students.
