Sharad Pawar Slap Video, Harvinder Singh slaps him for price rise

Sharad Pawar was slapped by a sardar named Harvinder at the NDMC Center in New Delhi on Thursday. He slapped him as he shouted slogans against corruption and price rise. Harvinder Singh has been arrested by the police and taken to Parliament Street Police Station

Reason for slapping Sharad Pawar- Harvinder Singh said he was tired of the continuing scams in the country. He reinterated that he did not do it for publicity. He even went on to say , "I would have killed him if I had my kripan today."

After he slapped Sharad Pawar, Harvinder Singh fished out a little knife and said that he would kill politicians who were connected in corruption. He said that he was not worried about consequences.

Harvinder said, "The prices for all essential commodities have risen. Annaji requested for Lokpal but it did not work out. I'm not a terrorist as a terrorist would never take such a step. I'm fed up of all the corrupt ministers involved in various scams," he said.

Defiant Harvinder Singh said he is the same person who attacked former telecom minister Sukhram on Saturday. The 86 year old has been convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for taking Rs. 3 lakh as bribe to award a contract to a telecom firm in 1996.

Pawar said such incidents should be ignored."He has done it in media presence, it was a scuffle. It's a serious matter, but not sure whether he was a journalist or one amongst many who were there. We don't have to give much of an importance to this incident," said Pawar. "Such kind of violent actions will not be tolerated," another BJP MP Smriti Irani said.

Aadhar Card is Important 
There is an urgent need to standardize the personal identification system of India with our population on a vertical fast track. You cannot implement the policies, taxation, control black markets, security, human resource development unless you have an accurate base data of all the people. It will lead not only to Identity proof cause but to monitor country's population and then devising way to get it better. Till date we do not have any up to date soft copy database of all the people living in india. Aadhar is creating a soft database of all people which will be very easy and handy way to track people, population, their activities, track and nab down criminal activities and crimes. I feel we are far behind but on track. And their is need to create more awareness among common people about Aadhar. It's purpose and motive.

Mah Dass from London writes “The High commission of India in London will not accept Post dated birth certificate from Municipality/Panchayat etc., unless they are invariably be certified by the Indian First Class Magistrate of the area with name, stamp, seal and contact telephone numbers with area code for verification. Should Anna Hazare join politics?

Anna Hazare aide Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday appealed to voters to hand down a "historic defeat" to the party. "I am here to convey Anna Hazare's message. If voters of Hisar launch a campaign against the Congress government, the party will be forced to accept the Jan Lokpal Bill. The eyes of entire India are now on the Hisar byelection," Arvind Kejriwal said. The Congress hit back at Team Anna's campaign in Hisar, saying Anna Hazare should come out in the open if he wanted to be in politics. "If Anna Hazare wants to get into politics, he should form his own party," Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said. Should Anna Hazare accept Congress party's challenge and form his own party?

Mumbai Unsafe for Women? Crime rate in Mumbai increasing?

There has been a rise in crimes against women and senior citizens in Mumbai. In fact, some statistics that say the crimes in Mumbai in 2011 has even surpassed Delhi’s crime records. Women have been attacked on local trains, senior citizens, mainly women, have been murdered. The recent Amboli case where a couple of youths were killed in broad daylight is also a testimony that crime-rate is increasing in Mumbai. Shops and banks have been brazenly robbed. Not to mention, that Mumbai has been increasingly weighed down by bomb blast in 2011.

The crime rate in Mumbai has been on the rise. The latest incident of Keenan and Rueben being brutally killed is yet another instance of how lawless the city has become. The minister of state for home & the police commissioner should hang their heads in shame for not trying to build the confidence of people and women in particular, after this incident.A strong deterent in the form of quick conviction in a fast track court should be ensured by the police by building strong case and providing justice to the families of the victims. if a couple is seen sitting in a park or roaming around the cops start harassing them booking them and extorting money from them, But when these goons harass women no cop is seen in that vicinity these things often happen . It clearly shows that the cops are hand in gloves with these goons.

Being pinched, touches, bruised and being on the receiving side of lewd comments. , in buses, on train stations. How much will you scream back and how muh will you fight these hooligans?. F1 Race in India- Good or Waste of Money?

Famed athlete P.T. Usha has said that the Indian Grand Prix is useless waste of money. Do you agree with her? In fact, PT Usha does not even consider motor or formula 1 racing a sport.

"I feel very bad because such hi-fi business has nothing to do with 99% of Indians. It is a criminal waste (of money). First, Twenty20 cricket spoiled the spirit of Indian sports, and now here comes another avatar which will mostly attract corporate money, who (Corporate) rarely spend for sports promotion. Only God can save the Indian sports," Usha said.

Top Shooter Gagan Narang thinks that Formula 1 racing in Indian should be open to viewing for everyone not just people with lot of money. He said, " "Let's face it that the sport is not for everyone. Only people with money will have the access. It has to be marketed well. I have heard from Indian friends abroad that turning up for Indian GP is more expensive than Singapore GP. That beats the purpose."


Its high time for change in way sports in perceived in India. Commercialization is the way to go. These corporates can pump in huge money in sports which will only enable them to pose as a proper career prospect. These traditional sports person keep cribbing for the lack of sports facility and funding from the government. We all know what our government cannot do in 100 years, our corporates can do in months.

I am pretty sure that if we can get good funding through commercialization, we have enough talent to shine in all possible sporting arenas. Irom Sharmila; World's Longest Hunger Striker; Save Irom Sharmila

Irom Sharmila is the world’s longest hunger striker; having rejected food and water for ten long years. A noble achievement but something that should leave a lump in our throat. While the other leaders are going hammer and tongs about their high profile fasts and having close door meetings with the echelons of the government; there is one woman who has silently yet in a strong-willed manner fought a long ridden battle for ten long years.

Irom Chanu Sharmila, called the Iron Lady of Manipur is a civil rights activist, social worker, journalist and poet. The reason she has been on hunger strike is to demand that the Indian government repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958; which she believes is responsible for violence in north-east part of India; particularly in Manipur.

On November 2 2000, in Maloma, a little town in Manipur, ten civilians fell to the bullets of Assam Rifles; a part of India’s paramilitary forces; while they were waiting at the bus stop. The incident became infamous as ‘Malom Massacre’. Sharmila, a 28 year old daughter of a veterinary worker, began to fast in protest of the killings. Actually, she would fast customarily every Thursday since childhood; but when the killing happens; it was a Thursday, too. She continued with the fast and has been doing ever since.

Irom Sharmila’s demand has been that the Indian government must repeal the AFSPA, which gives soldiers the right to detain any Manipuri citizen on the doubt of being a rebel. Three days after the strike, Irom was arrested by the police under section 309 of Indian Penal Code, as an ‘attempt to commit suicide’. Her health worsened quickly and the police gave her nasogastric intubation to keep her alive. Since then, the lady has been regularly released and then arrested under Section 309 an act with imprisonment up to one year or a fine, or both.

By 2006, Sharmila a modern icon of peaceful protest went to Raj Ghat to pay her tribute to her inspiration Mahatma Gandhi. She has written letters to the Prime Minister, the President and the Home Minister. Apart from a nomination to the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize by a woman’s organization called North-East Network in Guwhati, she has also been awarded the 2007 Gwangju Prize for Human Rights.

It is a sad thing that Sharmila has been ignored by the media, the government; her access to her friends, supporters and family have been denied. Human Rights Agencies and the UN have found that this law is continuously violating basic human rights and leading to various ills, exploitation and vengeful repercussions in the society. The center’s apathy towards the case and an indifferent attitude towards Irom Sharmila cannot be negated. Indian Entrepreneurs with Innovative Ideas

 In the villages, there have been amazing Indian entrepreneurs who have made a big difference to the country with their contributions. Though their efforts are not highlighted as much, their innovations can always bring a smile on our faces. Presenting the real Phunsukh Wangdu aka Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad of India

1. Consider 47-year-old veterinarian-turned-messiah of rickshaw pullers, Pradip Kumar Sarmah of the NOIDA-based Centre for Rural Development, who has innovated Deep Bahan - a lightweight cycle rickshaw priced at around Rs 10,500.The rickshaw comes gift-wrapped with a loan from Sarmah's Rickshaw Bank as well as vehicle insurance, licences and uniforms and even Hawaii chappals for the pullers. Sarmah services the rickshaw pullers with a one-window clearance as it were. A top to toe deal.

Sarmah's rickshaw is 20 per cent lighter than the traditional 100 kg one. But, sturdier. The economics of it is equally attractive. The'pullers' get to own the vehicle in just 18 months at a nominal repayment of Rs 25 per day. Sarmah's rickshaws have already boosted the earnings of many impoverished pullers.

What motivated Sarmah to come to the rescue of these hapless people? "There are nearly eight million rickshaw pullers in India and most of them suffer from TB. Despite the long, backbreaking hours of work they barely earn enough to make ends meet. It is an unreasonable state of affairs," says Sarmah.

"In 2002, on a trip to Guwahati, I got chatting with a rickshaw puller and was appalled to find that though he had been pedalling the rickshaw for 16 years, it did not belong to him. He was paying Rs 25 a day as rental. When he went home, he would not be having more than Rs 50 to meet his expenses," says Sarmah. He proudly points out that Deep Bahan owners earn up to Rs 500 per day, after paying the daily loan installment.

Deep Bhahan has improved the lot of nearly 5,500 rickshaw pullers in 12 cities including Guwahati,Varanasi,Allahabad and Lucknow. The IIT Guwahati-designed and CSIR-supported Deep Bahan is now all set for a world class makeover, with a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) design team working on it to make it even stronger, lighter and more user-friendly.

Simultaneously, Sarmah is carrying out a pilot project on solar battery-operated rickshaws branded as Soleckshaws. Nine such rickshaws already ply in Delhi's bustling Chandni Chowk and get their charge from solar panels installed atop the Delhi Metro railway station. If they run successfully over a period of time,more Soleckshaws will hit the road.

2. Delhi-based entrepreneur Dipendra Manocha (42) lost his vision to a degenerative eye disease - retinitis pigmentosa - when he was in Class VI. But he did not give up his dream to read and get an education.But no matter how hard he tried, he found it humiliating that he had to be dependent on others' goodwill to meet his basic educational needs.

"I found my dependence on other people frustrating.And I knew it was not just I,there were thousands of people like me out there who needed help.Finally it reached a point where I decided to work towards enabling visually challenged people and empowering them to be independent," says Manocha.

Manocha's first tryst with a DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) computer,which is a talking digital book,convinced him that the blind could read.He quit his PhD in classical music in 2003,and set up the Saksham Trust to enable the blind.

Today,Manocha's efforts promise to provide a hand-held,digital camera-sized reader-cum-media player named Buddy.Students can load into the small machine their textbooks that they want to listen to.It can also record lectures and play music.Buddy costs just Rs 4,000 against the Rs 16,000 that a regular DAISY notebook costs.Developed by a Noida-based electronics firm based on inputs from Manocha,Buddy is undergoing field-testing and is set to hit the market in a month or so.

Manocha is also deep into making Bollywood CDs for the visually challenged.What he does is to make special edition CDs for popular movies like Taare Zameen Par,Black and Munnabhai MBBS blindfriendly by using a narrator to describe actions,feelings and facial expressions of characters.

3. Bangalore-based Umesh Malhotra's Hippocampus Reading Foundation focuses on underprivileged children who can't read books just because they can't afford them.And in a country like India,their numbers are vast.The foundation's speciality is a low-cost model for setting up and running libraries.Using the Malhotra model,a library can be set up on a one-time investment of Rs 5,000,recoverable in 15 months.The average cost of access per child works out to Rs 10,and it simultaneously provides livelihood to women who operate these libraries from home.Already 65,000 children derive benefit from the Hippocampus network.

Says Malthotra,"With this model,we have moved the onus of running libraries onto the community and not the government,which,in any case,has met with failure in popularising library culture.In a country like India,developmental success is largely dependent on community involvement." Malhotra has libraries in nine villages,130 government schools and 20 in slums in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.Even as digital archives and online reading systems are increasingly fashionable in Indian cities,Malhotra believes traditional libraries run untraditionally have a great future with the masses.

4. Another man on the move,Gurgaon-based Hilmi Quraishi,has successfully harnessed the power of mobile phones to generate awareness about lifethreatening diseases like HIV and TB.

Quraishi's ZMQ,a mobile solutions company,has developed mobile games using a popular sport like cricket to propagate messages to prevent and cure HIV/AIDS and TB.Available through cellular operators as a value added service either free of cost or for a nominal Rs 3-5 per download,the games have been developed specially for entry-level black and white as well as colour handsets.

Quraishi's Freedom HIV/AIDS programme launched three years ago has been successfully used in India and Africa to battle the disease.In India,it is within the reach of over 42 million subscribers in Africa over 2 million.Quraishi says his challenge is to translate that reach into actual numbers.The explosive growth of mobile users in the country is very likely to prove him right.

Quraishi is now working with Microsoft to develop a software to create a database of TB patients.The software will track them and monitor their DOTS dosages like a good doctor."Currently all the TB patient records are in paper form and any calamity could destroy them forever.If that happens,we'd be back to square one.With this software,we have online records,we can monitor patients and track them to ensure they get their TB medication on time," says Quraishi.He points out the instance of Delhi,which has nearly 57,000 registered TB patients,of which around 43,000 have mobile phones.Whoever knew TB could be fought with a phone?

Vijay Pratap Singh Aditya,a former IIM-A research associate,has always found the market potential of rural India alluring.So,it is not so surprising that he decided to set up Ek Gaon Technologies in 2002 to develop low-cost technological solutions and provide financial services,citizen services and agricultural services to rural populations.Aditya set up Ek Gaon with an investment of Rs 10,000.His aim was to bring urban services to rural consumers.

Ek Gaon has joined hands with banks,microfinance institutions and non-banking financial institutions to provide mobile-enabled solutions for micro-finance management.It caters to over 4.5 lakh people spread across states like Rajasthan,Tamil Nadu and Orissa.Recently,it stepped up its activities across the border and is now available in countries like Sri Lanka as well.Says Aditya,"If India is an emerging market,then the rural markets are emerging to the forefront as well.We connect money to the consumer with the help of technology."

Ek Gaon provides financial services at 15 paise per transaction.It also offers agricultural services packages,that include weather forecasts,disease alerts,soil management,market prices information,in subscription options of Rs 240 per annum and Rs 120 per crop season through SMS alerts,and through IVRS (interactive voice response system) services for illiterate farmers.

Children,again,are the focus of Bill Drayton,founder and CEO of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public.He works at empowering children to become innovators through its newly launched Youth Venture programme.The programme has been kicked off in Mumbai in a few municipal schools.

"Once successfully completed,it will be replicated in schools in other parts of the country.If India does not empower its children and change its youth culture,how will it make the big shift to innovation and sweeping social change?" asks Drayton,a Gandhian at heart.

He cites the example of 18-year old Mumbaibased Shankar,who dropped out of school at an early age due to straitened family circumstances.Shankar took to petty thefts to support his family.Today,Shankar's innovative cricket league venture - Khiladi - at the instance of Drayton,organises tournaments for youngsters in his community.Khiladi also invites guest speakers to talk to youth about moral values,health issues and positive decisionmaking."In the process,Shankar has become a hero of sorts in his neighbourhood," Drayton smiles.

Common Wealth Games Corruption, CWG Scam

Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy said on Tuesday that the incidence of foot over-bridge near the main Games venue of the Common Wealth Games is a ‘minor hiccup’ and Delhi has seen a lot of bigger problems than these. He then goes to say that the games will be very successful. 20 laborers who are injured, five of them critically looks like a minor issue to him; imagine what he would have said had the same bridge fallen on a political leader.

It is a national shame that Rs.70,000 crore of tax payer money has been spent in Common Wealth Games and the Olympic contingent from countries like Canada, New Zealand, Wales and Scotland have decided that the Common Wealth Village is just unlivable and deplorable. Rs. 70000 crore to build a filth, terrible infrastructure which consists of stray dogs loitering in the building, feces lying in places where they are not supposed to be, water leaking in the bathrooms and many such unmentionables.

OC secretary-general Lalit Bhanot even cracked a joke to ‘t’ease the situation “The standards of cleanliness and hygiene differ from person to person. What one thinks is clean may not appear that clean to others.”
On the other hand, New Zealand chef de mission Dave Currie has suggested the Games might even have to be cancelled. He told New Zealand commercial radio on Tuesday: "If the village is not ready and athletes can't come, obviously the implications of that are that it's not going to happen."It's pretty grim really and certainly disappointing when you consider the amount of time they had to prepare."

One fails to understand why there is no competence and zero accountability, no one is willing to take responsibility for the sad state of affairs; everyone is bent on passing the buck. The games should have been the direct responsibility of the Indian cabinet ministry and not something that has been outsourced by the Delhi state to IOC. A prime minister of the caliber of Manmohan Singh seems to have take the matter lightly and did not bother chucking Kalmadi out, allowing the Indian horror show called ‘Common Wealth Games’ to continue.

No doubt, there is too much pressure on the government to make amendments but the fact is the Common Wealth Games that will be held in Glasgow 4 years from now will have ¼ th of the cost that is being savagely plundered in CWG. If India’s sporting infrastructure as well as Indian sporting face has to improve, we need to take politicians out and making sports-people administrators, only then we will be able to say that we are worthy of holding a game of this stature. For now, we are an international joke.

Tax Permits and Marathi

The Congress government first said taxi permits should be issued to people who speak Marathi and those who have been living Mumbai for 15 years. Marathi speaking can be made feasible for taxi drivers but not compulsory

1. There are passengers who speak Malayalam, Gujarati, English, Bengali who take the taxi. So does that mean the taxi driver should learn all their languages? It is not just Maharashtrians who take the taxi, do they?

2. People who take the taxi are least bothered about the language or Marathi. Their main concern is to reach a place and not about commanding the taxi driver to speak Marathi or any other language

Sach Ka Saamna: Reality TV makes television hotter than Bollywood

Samajwadi Party MP Kamal Akhtar is under the mistaken belief that reality TV promotes obscenity and family values. The typical beeped cuss words reality shows are something that is not totally new, we have all heard it sometime or the other. There is no Indian who has not heard colorful language. So the question of bad words used is totally uncalled for; it is a part of our culture too. Is. Akhtar unaware about bawdy, boisterous, 'naughty' songs sung in full public in north Indian weddings? That is also a part of our culture. Let’s face it; we are talking reality television, so you cannot have the participants being la-di-dah and using poetic language. That does not happen in reality, does it?

Moral policing is not required. If at all, you feel some content is objectionable, switch off the television; it is as simple as that. Do not care about how it will affect other people; they are smart enough to mind their own business. The youth is finally returning to television. Believe it or not, the youth bade bye to television long ago from the time Nukkad, Buniyaad and Hum Log went off the air. These were shows of real people that connected with everyone. With the deluge of saas-bahu serials, the youth went back to movies which had something to look forward too. Thankfully, for the first time in 20 years, television has made movies look regressive.

It is not the question of vulgarity; it is the question of quality content in your programs. Saas-bahu serials were plain stupid, with women wearing expensive sarees to bed, having their second husband resurrected thanks to dropping TRPs and melodrama that would put many to bed early. Okay, we credit them with the last bit; they did promote a good habit.

Smita Mathai a contestant in Sach Ka Saamna,whose reference is taken up by Kamal Akhtar, when citing about denigrating family values through reality shows; has herself said that her family had been fully aware of her emotions and have supported her. Since she said nothing wrong has happened between her husband and her, why are we so concerned? We are concerned because as a nation we are voyeuristic. Reality has always turned India on. Movies like Satya, A Wednesday, Shoot out at Lokhandwala and Mumbai Meri Jaan have clicked because we identify with reality.

Reality television has given people so much fame and recognition that many secretly vie for. People like Sambhavana Seth, Raja Chaudhary, Marc Robinson, Ishq Bector become so much popular after Big Boss and Iss Jungle se Mujhe Bachao. Guys like Nauman Sait, Ashutosh Kaushik and Alina Wadiwala are now household names. People like Ranvijay and Palak have come from nowhere and are now doing movies. It is sad that politicians target reality shows when a fact is that someone from their clan, a politician like Sanjay Nirupam received so much popularity, support and love after he appeared in Big Boss. Not many know that the concept of reality show was started by the sacred daddy of all channels, Doordarshan, when it would telecast live parliament proceeding 15 years ago in the morning from 8:30 to 9 every morning. That one had MPs behaving in the most uncouth manner, swearing and insulting mercilessly.

Is the media changing the way elections are held?

• Varun Gandhi slapped by National Security Act for saying rude things and threatening the minority community. The proceedings were caught on camera.
• Jaswant Singh, senior BJP leader accused of distribution of currency notes in public, violating moral code of conduct. The proceedings were caught on camera.
  
• Mulayam Singh Yadav under scanner for sexist remark against senior Manipuri lady leader. He said "Since you are a woman, I am restraining myself. Had you not been a woman, you would've faced the consequences."
• Govinda in trouble, caught on camera distributing notes during Holi.

All of the above incidents remind me of the Tehelka 'sting operation' where a hidden camera would sneak in and record the hideous, nasty ways of celebrities and politicians. Here, the media has it all laid bare, the camera just has to catch them with a 'take-away' phrase. In the Decision 09 debate in Times Now, I saw BJP leader Jayanti Natarajan and a Congress leader ganging up together against the press! This is really an opener, where two parties which dont see eye to eye, actually agreeing on one agenda that the press does not know its limits and magnifies everything. Politicians should realize that the days have gone where they could say nasty or communally inciting statements to influence public opinion. Now the might of the press is so big, is that if it is a deliberate statement or a goof up, just say 'sorry' gracefully and leave.

Barack Obama praises Manmohan Singh at the G-20 summit

US president Barack Obama praised Manmohan Singh, Indian prime minister at the G-20 summit at London. He asked a pretty Indian reporter from Times of India to ask him a question. She asked Obama about the talks he had with Manmohan Singh on terrorism. Barack Obama highly praised Manmohan Singh which made the press reporter happy. Obama jokingly asked her as to why she was so pleased, to which the visibly elated reporter said she was proud of Manmohan Singh.

Obama said that Manmohan Singh is a very good leader and a decent human being. He said Singh was reponsible for guiding India even before he became the prime minister of India. Regarding the issue of terrorism, Obama said that while poverty should have been the major concern for Pakistan and India, terrorism has become a priority. Obama said that he did speak with Manmohan Singh on terrorism, but more than that they had discussion on energy conservation. Obama looked like he was deviating from the topic of terrorism, as he continually spoke on energy conservation and carbon footprint. He said if India and China had wasted energy like an average American, there would have been a global melt-down. He also added that the US has been left behind in this issue as even the European nations have braced energy conservation methods.

Three captains for KKR! Ganguly asked to share captaincy

Saurav Ganguly, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL Season 1 got a shocker when he came to know through newspaper that he is no more the 'fixed' captain of KKR for IPL edition 2. The coach of Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buchanan has dropped Sourav Ganguly as the fixed skipper and instead declared that there will be three captains in the KKR team. Kolkata Knight Riders seems to be in trouble, with politics brewing in even before the IPL 2 kicks in. Conveying to Ganguly that he is no more a fixed skipper through a newspaper is blasphemous.


The coach says that the choice of multiple captains has nothing to do with the performance or the fitness of Ganguly. One can definitely smell something fishy in John Buchanan's statement and we can make out that he wanted Ganguly to be axed as the captain. In a press conference, Buchanan said that the manager or the coach is more important than a captain because IPL is more about strategizing.

However, there was no reason to totally axe Ganguly. His face registered displeasure though he put a brave front in front of the press reporters. About the four captain formula, Ganguly said, " It is new and I think we will have to access it. John has all the right to make the decision, he is the coach of the team...He has been pretty open about his views and we will stick to it. I have nothing to say about this." From the interview here from TimesNow and the facial expression at the press conference, Ganguly looks clearly dejected of being kicked out of IPL captaincy.

South Africa will host IPL matches

South Africa will be hosting the IPL -Second Edition. The matches will be held between April 18 and May 24, a delay of about one week from the original schedule of April 10, 2009. The matches will commence at 4 pm IST and 8 pm IST to make it easy for Indian television viewers back home. England lost out as the IPL venue to South Africa because of the wet weather between April and May. Also the steady assurance from South Africa government and CSA officials that the tournament pitted the deal in its favor. Also the cost of running the tournament turns out to be cheaper in South Africa compared to England.

Manmohan Singh-Advani face/off: Manmohan Singh questions Advani's ability to run the country

Manmohan Singh vehemently criticized BJP Prime minister candidate for calling him the weakest prime minister ever in India. Manmohan Singh in his first public speech, since his heart operation, why he is prime minister material for years to come through his speech that targetted BJP, CPM and the Varun Gandhi.

Manmohan Singh said that Advani, in his tenure as a Home Minister, failed to control western Gujarat riots and could not prevent military attacks on Parliament and Red Fort.

His government mobilized Indian troops for 12 months without getting any result, they rolled them back with thousands and thousands of crores of loss. Parliament was attacked, Lal Qila (Red Fort) was attacked, Indian Airlines plane was hijacked and the terrorists were rewarded by being made the honoured guests. This is the record of Advani. He was the home minister, who presided over the massacre that took place in Gujarat. The country must reflect whether this is a person who is 'fit' to hold the office of the Prime Minister. Advani's only achievement is the razing of the Babri Masjid.

Manmohan Singh also lashed out at Varun Gandhi's inflammatory speech""The BJP is dividing our people on the basis of the communal lines and the most recent shameful instance of this is their endorsement of the line that its young leader Varun Gandhi has taken with regard to his speeches that he made in Pilibhit"

Rubbishing allegation by NDA that the UPA govt bought economy to its knees, Manmohan Singh pointed out that despite the global economic melt-down, India was the second fastest growing economy.

IPL: Indian Premier League or International Premiere League

India's proud offering to world cricket-Indian Premier League can now be dubbed as 'International Premiere League' or NRIPL. The Indian government has exposed its weakness by announcing its decision to host the IPL outside India. As Narendra Modi puts it, the international community will attach itself to the perception that India like Pakistan, is a terrorist state. If the government starts incapacitated enough to give protection to 11 people, how will it be able to protect the lives of 100 crore people? Citing the elections clashing with IPL as the reason for the govt to do so, has only exposed India's inadequacy to the outside world. What remains to be seen is will India behave in the same manner when it comes to hosting the forthcoming World Cup Cricket matches and Commonwealth Games?
